Gemora ("Gemora," "we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, how long we retain it, and the choices and rights available to you when you use our applications, websites, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Depending on applicable law, Gemora may act as the data controller or business responsible for personal data processed through the Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

We may collect information that you choose to provide, including:

  • Account information: such as your name, email address, profile information, and authentication-related information.
  • User Content: such as prompts, conversations, notes, journal entries, images, documents, audio, and other content you submit to the Service.
  • Memory and personalization data: such as preferences, recurring context, summaries, tags, and other information stored to personalize your experience.
  • Support and feedback: such as support requests, feedback, and reports about AI-generated content.
  • Subscription information: such as subscription status, entitlement information, and transaction-related metadata. Payment card details are handled by applicable payment providers and are not stored directly by Gemora.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Service, we may automatically collect:

  • device type, operating system, app version, language, and approximate time zone;
  • app interactions, usage events, and technical performance information;
  • app or device identifiers and push notification tokens;
  • IP address, timestamps, request metadata, and security or operational logs;
  • approximate location derived from IP address.

Gemora does not collect precise GPS location unless a specific feature clearly requests permission and requires it.

2.3 Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our web services may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies for authentication, security, preferences, analytics, and performance. Where required by applicable law, optional technologies are used subject to the appropriate consent choices.

3. How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

  • provide, operate, maintain, and personalize the Service;
  • generate AI-assisted responses, summaries, and contextual features;
  • manage accounts, authentication, subscriptions, and entitlements;
  • provide customer support and communicate about the Service;
  • analyze performance and improve reliability and product experience;
  • detect abuse, fraud, security threats, and policy violations;
  • process user reports and support platform safety;
  • comply with applicable legal, accounting, tax, and regulatory obligations.

4. AI Processing and Memory

Gemora provides AI-assisted features that may process your User Content, relevant conversation context, and active Memory items to generate responses and related functionality.

We do not use your private User Content to train generalized public AI foundation models.

To provide AI functionality, Gemora may use third-party AI inference providers. These providers process data according to their applicable commercial and data-processing terms. Gemora does not authorize them to use private Gemora User Content to train generalized public AI models.

Gemora may provide in-app controls that allow you to view, edit, delete, or manage stored Memory information.

Gemora also provides an in-app mechanism for reporting AI-generated content.

5. Service Providers

We may share personal data with service providers that process information on our behalf for purposes such as:

  • cloud infrastructure, hosting, databases, and file storage;
  • AI model inference and related processing;
  • authentication and identity services;
  • analytics, diagnostics, and performance monitoring;
  • subscription and payment processing;
  • push notifications and transactional communications;
  • security, fraud prevention, and customer support.

These providers may process personal data only as necessary to provide services to Gemora and subject to applicable contractual or legal obligations.

We may also disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect the rights or safety of users or Gemora, investigate abuse or fraud, or complete a merger, acquisition, financing, or transfer of assets.

Gemora does not sell personal data or share personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising.

6. Legal Bases for Processing

Where GDPR, UK GDPR, or similar laws apply, Gemora may process personal data based on:

  • performance of a contract, where processing is necessary to provide the Service you request;
  • legitimate interests, such as security, fraud prevention, product reliability, and service improvement, where those interests are not overridden by your rights;
  • consent, where consent is required for optional processing;
  • legal obligations, where processing is necessary to comply with applicable law.

7. International Data Transfers

Gemora and its service providers may process personal data in countries other than the country where you live.

Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, Gemora relies on appropriate transfer mechanisms, which may include Standard Contractual Clauses or other legally recognized safeguards.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • provide the Service;
  • maintain security and prevent abuse or fraud;
  • comply with legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory requirements;
  • resolve disputes and enforce agreements.

After a verified account deletion request, Gemora deletes or de-identifies associated personal data in accordance with our deletion process, subject to limited retention where required or permitted for legal, security, fraud-prevention, accounting, or regulatory purposes.

Residual copies may remain temporarily in system backups until they are overwritten through normal backup lifecycle processes.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • access personal data we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • request deletion of your personal data;
  • request a portable copy of certain data;
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

You may also manage available privacy and Memory controls directly in the Service.

10. Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your Gemora account through:

  • In-App: Settings → Data Management → Delete Account;

Deleting an account also initiates deletion of associated personal data, subject to the limited retention exceptions described in this Policy.

11. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal data to Gemora, contact privacy@gemora.app.

Users between 13 and the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction may be subject to additional consent or privacy requirements under applicable law.

12. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls, security monitoring, and other safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information processed.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice as required by applicable law.

The date at the top of this Policy indicates when it was last updated.
